A Reminder To All Entrants
First up, the entry level is gang-busters folks and that's always a good sign. Looks like everyone wants to have a go at that trophy under the new answer system. Well, good luck to you all.
1. In the six qualifying round random brainoffs, all entrants, or rather, players, will be in exactly the same six brainoffs as everybody else.....same questions to all players.
Expect to receive a qualifying round game labelled as follows:
"Factacular Cup - Qualifying Round - Game 1" - followed by 2, 3, 4, 5 and then finally 6.
2. Factacular Cup, Factacular Plate and Factacular Mug (if applicable) knockout challenges will be labelled specific to the competition you ended up in, the round, and the players. For example:
"Factacular Cup - Round One - jmaxg vs Java", or
"Factacular Plate - Round Two - jmaxg vs Java", or
"Factacular Mug - Semi-Final - jmaxg vs Java".
I felt it was necessary and appropriate, since being given the ability to label brainoffs, to put some structural thought into it.
Future Factacular Cup Competitions
Some of you may have noticed that the frequency of the Factacular Cup has been upgraded from quarterly to monthly (ref: JMK's Tournament Overview forum).
Yes, there is a reason for this......the Factacular Cup competition is currently being assessed for total absorption into Factacular.com itself in order to take it's place next to the Decathalon and the Kevvie as a wholly owned and Factacular run standard competition.
Now, some of you may say "Awww.....their gonna take away your baby?". It never was my baby. The "Factacular Cup" was actually invented by older members here in Factacular. I was simply asked one day to run a competition and since the "Factacular Cup" at that point wasn't being run, that's the one I picked. It just seemed like more of a challenge.
Anyway, Doctor Factenstein is doing his thing and checking things out. He's very confident at this stage that things will seem very much the same except for some minor details.....maybe the qualifying round method will change, maybe it won't; that part we are still working out.
Also, remember that it will take time. Maybe 2 months, maybe 4, maybe 6 or 12. It's up to the Doc when he has time to work his magic. Have no fear though, I stand ready to maintain JMK's schedule. If it's monthly now, then monthly the Factacular Cup shall be.
One more thing......I have been assured that the bucket of bolts I created, FactaCupAdmin, will be the permanent runner of the competition. I get this impression that some of you have misguided affection for this deliberately trashy spawn of L. Ron Hubbard's easily copied imagination(?) Well, he will always run it. It may not be me pushing his buttons in the future, but the android is here to stay.
So, there ya go.......all in all good news for the longevity of the Factacular Cup tournament.
