The topic of Gems and their colors is rife with errors and half-truths and occasional truths and it is just a mess. I respectfully request that it be removed from the pool of competition questions until it has been sorted. I think that the more recognizable gem colors should be used, not the exception. Please take this under consideration. As it stands now it is a guessing game unless someone has momorized the misinformation in factopedia.

You aren't an editor and wouldn't know a topaz from a opal. Shut it, Kev or I'll choke you with the Hope Diamond.

I obviously must adress someone who has some interest in improving Factacular, not an old fot like you.

If there are errors then please report them (as always). You've brought up this topic in the past so there's been plenty of time for you to report errors and have them corrected.

Occasional truths are still truths and I have no problems with them.

I just saw this response, Stu, and the entire topic needs to be redone. It is saturated with semi-truths and is things are occasional the questions should rea something like this: "A diamond is sometimes 1)brown,2)orange3)violet4) opalescent" That way there is a correct answer yet not such an obscure anwser that it is impossible to get the right answer. By simply adding the word SOMETIMES the problem can be largley solved. But, Stu, to be honest with you, there seems to be a turn to trickery in the questions and not just in the gem category. I don't mind a challenge but a fact is a fact and I don't think it is correct to twist meanings in order to make people get the answers wrong. Words have a meaning or even several but they are clear and should not be skewed. I am pretty much fed up with factacular and if I didn't like the people so much I would probably leave. I do like most of the people and it is a good place to mingle. I hope you will just read what I said and take it under consideration.

I will take it under consideration.

Any other editors may also take it under consideration too, obviously.

I have taken it into consideration when this was brought up by you before SSG. I redid quite a few. The answers in there are correct to the best of my knowledge and the sources I checked with. If there are any you think are wrong let me know the specific ones. Most gemstones have more than one possible colour. The most common ones are included in the topic.

I will do that, Jan. As I see errors or "stretches" I will let you know. Thanks.
