Four years ago in November 2008, the last Vendee Globe was held. It is a world wide single person yacht race that starts in France, goes south around Africa, across the Pacific Ocean and up the eastern coast of South America then back to France. Parallel to this 340,000 virtual sailors, including some of us, sailed this route on the internet via Virtual Regatta. It was a hoot and I plan to sail again. Come check out the websites for the Vendee Globe at http://www.vendeeglobe.org/en/

and the virtual race at http://www.virtualregatta.com/

Both forms of the race start November 10th, and you need to sign up to do the virtual regatta of the race

On Facebook there is a forum https://www.facebook.com/virtualregattaEN

The race takes more than a month and you will need to check your ship daily to keep on course. Come join me and see what sailing is about.
There is no cost to participate.

It says on the site that it is a game for sailing fans. That counts me out.

Ajax take it as an adventure into the unknown, I will be out there and you will be able to communicate with me if you attempt this. I learned as I went, I have never sailed a sail boat in real life ever but I found this a unique challenge. It only happens once every 4 yrs.

I don't set these dainty toes on any yacht unless champagne is involved - and someone else winds those rope windy things - preferably a young tanned bare chested he-man type.

Ummmm focus Sally - mind is drifting!
