Who are these Cheeky Girls and where did they come from? Are they popular in England?

I know only this song!!! But it was long time ago. I think they won the British X Factor Talent show.

One of our Liberal Democrat Members of Parliament (Lembit Opik) is the partner of the one on the left, or is it the one on the right, or the one in the middle?

They didn't win X-factor, as I recall. But we do love underdogs over here, especially when they wear gold hotpants and don't take themselves seriously.

Oh yeah, they're from Transilvania and their mum writes their songs. They haven't been popular for several years now.

They were never popular here in the US. I saw them mentioned on Wikipedia in a list if bands that had siblings in them (Allman Brothers, Bee Gees, Evan and Jaron, Eisley, Oasis, Kinks, Dire Straits, etc.).

They were on Popstars: The Rivals. They didn't win - the winners were five individual "performers" who became Girls Aloud. The show also produced a boy band to rival Girls Aloud - One True Voice, who were uniformly awful (although to be fair it was the management's choice of songs which was at fault).

The Cheeky Girls didn't even get past the audition stage - although they did audition on two occasions to get more exposure. They had two or three top ten hits, despite having no talent. Never underestimate the power of the novelty act.

Gabriella was, at one point, engaged to Lembit Opik but that ended last year.
