So, we're going on holiday to Panama City ( the one in Panama, not the one in Florida!) at the end of the month.  Never been to Central America before, obviously we have been/will be doing appropriate research before we go but I thought I'd pick the combined brains of Factacularians for information.

Any good tips?  Must do's or must avoids?  Any comments would be welcomed unless it's about Van Halen.

"Cuanto cuesto" followed by "demasiado caro" is a good combo to maybe not have to pay "gringo" prices.

Renting a car? The villages and coffee plantations look cool. If taxiing figure out what the rate should be and watch that meter.

Are you strong swimmers? Traveling with kids?

No kids.  I can't swim.  10 night trip ( wish it were longer!).  Must say I can't wait.  The two of us have had a, shall we say, challenging year so it's gonna be a real treat I think.  I am all about the nature and the landscape and the wildlife whereas she is a bit more beach and pool type.  We'd both like to explore the city as well though

You can probably snorkel and see cool stuff without getting any deeper than you can stand. Go hiking in the jungle for sure! Mostly just enjoy being away and turn your phones off!

Haven't been that far south in Central America, I'm jealous! Should be a great and relaxing adventure.

Parasailing is very fun if heights aren't an issue, same with ziplining. For parasailing no swimming required and you can usually catch sight of some cool aquatic wildlife.
