Have any of you ever tried out? Been on? Fans?

In the US the big one is Jeopardy hosted by Alex Trebek. Faithfully on at the same time every weekday longer than I've been alive.

I love Jeopardy and have a secret desire to try out someday but would have to get within 1000 of Nemesis on an average brainoff before I would dare try ;).

I've always thought a lot of you would be so good with Jeopardy's format (reverse question -  speed crucial). Some of you I think could win for weeks on end (the winner goes on indefinitely).

I do pub quizzes and don't do too bad, but tend to develop memory blanks under pressure so I don't think trivia tv would suit me. There are some Facta members who have done quite well in this area though.

I don’t get Jeopardy - the way they answer questions irks me. Just say the answer don’t formulate it into some odd introductory question like who is/are or what is/are to give the answer. I refuse to watch it.   I like trivia quizzes at pubs - even more so now smoking is banned in pubs, clubs and restaurants because I’ll fo to them now where as a non smoker I would refuse to go in a smoky pub.

I enjoy The Chaser, Egghead and just started watching pointless.

The Chase, Eggheads and Pointless are all programmes (I believe) that originated in the UK. Are they Oz versions or are you watching the Brit ones?

I like TV quizzes without frippery - no gimmicks, no chat, so Fifteen to One because its fairly rapid, but the new version does have personal chats with the contestants.

University Challenge and Only Connect for nerd worship.

Having said I don't like gimmicks we do watch Pointless sometimes - it's slow enough for us to chat and speculate through. My niece's husband complained  because I had introduced her to Pointless and he felt his home life had changed. Just cross because he'd married into a quiz obsessed extended family:) She had a moan with me  because she was very upset that she couldn't use tickets to be in the audience of Pointless because she had gone into labour with her first child.

LOL Sally. Smoking in pubs and Jeopardy are two of my favorite things :).

Haven't heard of many of these, will have to look online.

There is an Aussie version of the Chase which we get here as well as the UK version. I do enjoy both. Only Connect is good but harder to access here.

I don’t watch many Aussie game shows. There is who wants to be a millionaire but is on when I’m getting dinner ready so don’t bother watching it. I prefer the British chaser but so watch the Aussie one - who has a few of the British Chasers in it too.  My he is so cute I could just eat him up. Ahem - did I say that out loud - hubby just rolls his eyes when super nerd comes on - LOL

AHH-HAH! I think Sally has a thing for the Beast! That's ok, I like a nice husky man-mountain who knows his quarks from his quasars too.

Stu was on either Only Connect or Eggheads...  Only Connect is the best, the obscurity of the connections makes you feel really chuffed if you get the answer right.  Though University Challenge comes a close second

Man I wish I had these shows here!

I'm going to have to change nationality on the basis of poor quiz show selection.

There is an American version of The Chase,  I don't know whether it's still being made. We stopped watching it a) because we're fickle b) because we we're whiney elderly Brits and didn't empathise with the massive gung-ho audience cheers and boos. Having quickly googled it, and being so elderly I have to puzzle out how to send links efficiently, I can only tell you it was on  Games Shows Network in the USA.

Sally, I'm so glad, it's the Beast. I was wondering how I was going to break it to you that my favourite (and thus, I foolishly assumed yours) has been out and proud for years. Sometimes fantasy is better than fact:)

Anyone else wondering if Kev was a witness or a suspect on Crimewatch? :)

Ruby - which one out is and proud? Super Nerd? He’s my Aussie favourite. I thought the beast was married to a very young woman. He’s certainly mellowed.

I think Ruby might be referring to the Chase UK. Paul Sinha is gay. All the male chasers in the Aussie show are straight & married - except for poor little Issa who's straight & single but a bit too shy to mingle, evidently.
