So pleased that I'm the first person to post here in a while that I won't mind if the virtual flame-thrower comes out and the suggestion gets shot down in flames.

I was wondering whether it would be possible, during the temporary absence of Java and jmaxg, to speed up the rotation of the subject tournaments to fill the gaps in the schedule? Do you have the time to do this JMK? Would tournament players be fed up with subjects coming round again too quickly? What do the rest of you think?

Whilst I'm here - not a suggestion but a query - why do those seven dwarfs seem to be so multitudinous? I know the selection of questions is random but we do seem to see those guys a lot, but at least its a subject I can now get full marks on...Also is it worth a review of which are tournament subjects and which are not? My particular bugbear is celebrity fragrances, but that's my problem, but why is that subject included and not cookery terms?

Anyway, many thanks to all tournament and site organisers past, present and temporarily absent.

1. The subject tournaments are manually run by me and at the moment I don't have time to run them more frequently. I could perhaps set up a team tournament (2 to a team) similar to the Kevvie in one of the off weeks, they are quite easy to run.
2. No idea why the dwarves come up all the time, should just be random chance.
3. You can see which subjects can appear in random brainioffs eg in the Kevvie or the daily brainofff  or one you send to each other by going to Factopedia and selecting one of the categories, the randoms have a red dot beside them By all means make some suggestions for additions or removals. Sometimes subjects are not in randoms because they are not structurally a good subject. Cooking terms is an example of that. The answers are really long and there is a lot of potential for there to be more than one correct answer. It could probably be improved by breaking it up into several smaller subjects and shortening the answers and then some of those might be suitable. There are a few other reasons why a subject might not be in randoms including if it is obscure or very country-specific.

Hope that helps.

Thanks JMK for the answer and explanations.

I would be very happy with a mini-Kevvie occasionally, perhaps one time with a chosen partner -  I miss playing alongside chooky -  perhaps the next time with a random partner? Is it worth trying, does anyone else have any ideas on that?

Once more, many thanks, and all the best.

Suggestions for ones you would like to see included? Then I can check if they are suitable.

Looks like there's enough players for a mini mini Kevvie - the baby Lady Minnieton newbornamental quizlet.

Meanwhile, I don't agree with chooky that subjects should necessarily be removed, I'm grateful to the dwarfs for giving me points and infuriated with my inability to get to grips with wacky racers, perhaps with more subjects added they will occur less frequently. Anyway I will look at other possible subjects and post under C&C.

That's the problem though. They're Gimmes. So are the wacky racers. I sooo don't care about these subjects any more that when I bother to play them, I don't give a crap if I get them wrong!
There are loads of subjects with red dots next to them that I don't remember ever coming up in brainoffs.
I realise I'm just one person & still relatively new but I'll bet quite a few people would agree with me if they were still around.

Sometimes we don't notice subjects coming up because they aren't very memorable whilst others like the Dwarves stick in your mind. That said the nature of randoms means some subjects will appear more often and others rarely. I quite like seeing the Dwarves and especially the Wacky Racers. Champagen bottles not so much, I used to know all these but some of them trick me now.
If we try adding a few more into the mix for a start. I will also check on subjects that are marked for review as they won't come up even if they are marked for randoms.

I'll run the Tea for Two Tourney in September - it's a 2 player like the Kevvie, choose your own partner.

Some of us need all the gimmies they can get - my little heart fills with joy when the wacky races and seven dwarves questions come up.  I know this stuff!  Those at the top of the food chain are going to answer well whatever the question - but I'm a mud shoveler and I need all the help I can get so that once in a blue moon, maybe, I can raise myself to the dizzy heights of middle of the pack.

Will leave the Wacky Racers & Dwarves where they are but if there are suggestions for ones to add to the pool then fire away.

Firstly, I agree with Sally regarding the gimmes!  I don't know what the Wacky Races is or was, but I know who drove which machine!  I also love to see the Seven Dwarves questions!  Don't care two hoots for celebrity perfumes, but am happy to get zero when they do come up.

Secondly, thanks for all the work that you are putting into these tournaments, JMK.  Each time one comes around I am conscious of how hard you are working.  Thanks
