I am so, so sorry to hear that. I have never met her but I did have one conversation with her via a video call. She was such a character and a lovely person. She is going to be really badly missed. Not often I have tears for someone I haven't met in person but I have today.

R.I.P. Norma a.k.a TABBYTOES

I'm so sorry. Tabby made us laugh, she sent me (and I'm sure, others)  kind messages, but, she didn't mind getting her claws out on issues she felt strongly about.

Kev, thank you for telling us. I'm thinking of you and Norma's other friends and family.

I had a great relationship with Norma for nearly the entire time we knew each other here on Facta. We played Scrabble and Trivia Crack for a long time on Facebook. I felt very welcome when I played on her Kevvie team. Perhaps the falling out she and I had last fall was a symptom of something was wrong. I wished we could have reconciled before she departed but I guess that was not to be. She is a legend like Linda (Lucy) and Susana and the others and Facta is a poorer place for her passing. Peace and rest may God grant unto you dear Tabbytoes. We will miss you.

Since we have known her, she has always been extremely knowledgeable, yet inquisitive and seem to love absorbing new information. So, there is no surprise as to why she loved Factacular so much.

We will miss the too few Skype sessions we had with her and kevg during which she showed a beautifully boisterous, hearty and somewhat bawdy sense of humour with a loud and infectious laugh that lit up the conversation.

R.I.P. Tabby-T. You are and will be missed.

Much love and sadness,

Java & jmaxg

Tabby (Norma) was warm, compassionate, funny, sad and honest.  I will miss her messages from Facebook and her personal comments to me.  As JMK says, not often does one shed a tear for someone that they had not met face to face - but today is such a time for me.

I hope that you are aware of the love and respect that so many had for you Tabbytoes.  I just wish that I had got in touch before yesterday - already too late.

Didn't answer when I called , should have gone up but hard when I can't walk , she had been dead a few days . Cops broke in and found her . Probably her heart gave out , won't know until inquest.

Goodbye Tabby... the world has lost one of its kindest souls... you made us laugh and, for those of us in a dark place, brought a little light and sanity... I hope you knew how much you were loved... miss you... Knitwitty xxx

Knitwitty's comment has reminded me of something that Tabby once said on a forum in Facta (can't remember which discussion); she said "....I am just a kindly old woman..."   I thought that that was what I hoped to always be too.  Kindness is the only measure of a person that really counts isn't it?

You WERE kind, Tabbytoes.  There is nothing higher or better than that.

To kevg.....we know what you promised.

But it's not about that mate. Norma passed probably doing what she wanted to do......watching a replay of her beloved Manchester UTD with a big glass of red in her mitt.

I personally can't think of a better way to go. Can you?

As for you, us Factacularians would prefer it if you get your hip right and get back to us.

We have scenarios to work out.

Nobody has spoken of this as yet so I will. Norma (Tabby-T) was a LIBRARIAN.

I had a dream last night in which Norma said how she so admired the Evelyn Carnahan (Rachel Weisz) character in the film "The Mummy".

Being a librarian is not only about knowing various methods of cataloguing, although that is a part of your job. But it is also about KNOWING the great expanse of written facts and artistic expression that you are aware of and can advise upon.

The Evelyn Carnahan character in "The Mummy" was a klutz - that was made perfectly clear.

But she was also a huge source of knowledge relative to the story.

I just think that was a great "shout-out" to librarians everywhere. I hope that, before she left us, Norma picked up her wine glass containing a particularly good red and thought, after watching "The Mummy", "I AM A LIBRARIAN!".

You get no argument out of me.
