I chose the colour scheme because it's roughly in line with the Michigan ballot.

Anyway, the night is almost upon us. This could be world changing.

Maine is a bit squirrely because they have a split electoral college vote for some weird reason. And there is one other state like that but I can't remember which one it is. But their respective electoral college votes are quite low and so should, I stress SHOULD, not factor all than much.

But let's gird our loins and jump in just to see what happens.

Remind me - Hillary is Blue and Trump is red?  or is it the other way around?

Maybe I should just save this in my favourites rather than watch TV - They saying we will possibly have the result by afternoon tomorrow Australia time.

Well, I told everybody with effect the last Obama election that they could watch this for themselves on the news. But everybody wanted to see the electoral college count ticking over. So, I did as was asked of me.

As for whether Trump is red or Hillary is blue, in the above graphic it doesn't matter.....just follow the "Y"'s or better yet, watch the totals at the bottom and see who gets to 270 first.

I must admit to feeling more excited about this count.

I did a trial run this afternoon just using known democrat or Hillary leaning states.

I got to 253 electoral votes not even counting California and their 55 electoral votes.

Oh dear!

GOT IT! Washington D.C.! District of Columbia and their 3 electoral votes.

Phew! Glad I worked that out.

They can't vote for congress, but they can vote for a president.

Graphic changed by order.

And I'm quietly slashing my wrists - someone here at work has said well America has made it's bed and now it has to sleep in it. Trouble is it's not just America who will suffer.

I am suddenly very scared of what the world is going to be like.  I think the world is slowly losing its humanity.

I've unfriended one person on facebook - a 'good' Christian woman who loves the Lord - was crowing with delight a singing God's praises that the Moslems are going to get kicked out.

I felt sick.  This is just one person - there are millions who are as happy as she is.  Yes I understand they want change - but did they have to sell their souls to get it?

If we do it will only be for the relatively short period of time it will take before it becomes apparent that Donald Trump has not made America great again.  They wont want to be hanging around admitting how wrong they were.
BTW, I didn't particularly like Hillary Clinton (appologies to Sally, Jamx and to Clinton supporters), I just thought it was a better alternative than an over-priviledged, self aggrandising, narrow-minded, inarticulate, unscrupulous, bad-tempered man-baby.

Still feeling somewhat queasy after last night. Watching Pennsylvania turn red in front of one's eyes seemed quite unreal....bastion of organised unionists? Not any more. OR some of those unionists voted for Trump cause they thought he was a tough guy not quite realising that he represents the very forces that want unions torn apart.

Oh well......day by day, one foot in front of the other, keep breathing.....all of that crap.

All we can do is hope that he doesn't screw things up too badly.

Indeed TabbyT. Certain members we haven't seen for months and now they come back to gloat?

Way to go all you part time Factacular members! At least the rest of us stayed! You guys pop back up now, as TABBYTOES puts it, after living under a rock.

Look, I know everyone is angry and feeling very weird. Java and I ourselves had to go off the grid for one whole day. Even the free-to-air nightly news. Java and I just had to turn it all off.

But the next day we decided to come back online and accept the rule of the US Constitution. We even watched the NBC evening news tonight! We both threw up a little in our mouths seeing President Elect Trump in the White House. But unless something extraordinary happens between now and 20 January 2017, Trump will be sworn in.

Both Java and I note the protests going on in all major cities. There is a lot of panic going on right now and we both think it is unwarranted, unnecessary and dangerous.

We also both think that President Trump will somehow find a way to screw it all up to the level of impeachment.

HOWEVER, we have a duty to our constitution and that means honouring the president elect in the first instance.

But if he screws it up, we'll be on him like a honey badger (not a pun).

And yes, he has the potential to totally screw it up.

As for the ones smacking their lips, if he screws it up, which he will, you better be prepared to own it.

But you know what REALLY pisses me off? Media outlets that had the chance to destroy him, but didn't because of ratings.

Andrea Mitchell, you are part of this. You and your decripit husband, Allan Greenspan, former head of the American Reserve that led us into a problem in the first place.

I mean, the lady should not be on a screen in the first place. Her "pauses" are infuriating. I think of her now as wearing "Depends" because she is having a pee during her infuriating pauses.

Her Hillary Clinton "email" reporting was simply terrible.

Tabby I wasn't hiding under a rock !!

Media outlets had the chance to destroy him ??? Oh they tried, but people got fed up of the condescending attitudes of the "celebrities" and "newscasters" and voted against them, not neccessarily for him.

A couple of points worth making, in my opinion.

Firstly, it has been a constant complaint among Trump supporters (conservatives in general actually) that the 'mainstream media'  have a liberal bias, haven't been fair towards Trump & deliberately misrepresent the 'conservative agenda' (for want of a better term).
Fox News is pretty damn mainstream! So is the New York Post.  There are plenty of other media outlets with a conservative slant & I saw lots of pieces critical of Hilary in the so-called "lame-stream media"

Secondly, Jmax, you said "The media had plenty of chances to destroy him but didn't because of ratings'
The media doesn't have the duty - or right - to do that, surely? The way current events are reported has changed a lot in a short space of time for various reasons & ratings certainly do play a part. But shouldn't the primary function of a news organisation be to convey reliably sourced facts as succicntly as possible? The vast majority of people are not too stupid to form a sensible opinion when giving correct information. In other words, more stats & specs - less docudrama.

Finally, I agree - in part, with Kevg about the celebrities. Some really went beyond the pale!
But then that was the case on both sides.  Much better if they all just shut the hell up.

Couldn't agree more chooky. But also the disconnect. This hurts but is also perfectly correct.

We lost the rust belt states because we stood a ground, not THE ground.

We lost their faith, even the unionists, because we seemed to be isolated toffs relying on the college educated instead of the paycheck to paycheck working class. We stupidly forget how much of the electorate they are.

And with the working class, we ALSO forgot how many are women, doing their utmost to either feed their family or deal with life in a single parent situation.

This election was handed to Donald Trump because elitists thought they arrogantly KNEW. Well, they were wrong. The DNC simply has to change direction if they are to survive and NO.....it's not just about Unions. It has to be about ALL people, regardless.

This is a screw up to a titanic degree. But, we must fix the communication problems and get on with it.

BUT, here is the thing, we cannot forget that which President Elect Trump stands for.

Java would like to point out that, to a woman, a Trump presidency offers nothing.

Java: "I was told that to get a degree offered professional opportunities. Now, after realising I get paid 70 cents to the dollar, President Trump would prefer I stayed home anyway. Women of America, we have literally shot ourselves in the foot."

This is the opening stanza of the Trump presidency. What happens after this is not only up to him.
