Full stage name was Gilbert M. "Broncho Billy" Anderson. American silent fim star who played 3 roles in the 1903 12 minute film "The Great Train Robbery". Formed Essanay Studios with George Kirke Spoor in 1907 and starred in some 300 short films for this studio until 1916. He also directed, wrote and produced motion pictures.
